Market Edge has used the Denison Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) with hundreds of business units since 1997, and Dan Denison has been a faculty member on Market Edge Management / Leadership Development Programs. DOCS is an excellent component of innovation and strategy projects because it identifies the organizational culture road blocks that will limit a business’ ability to achieve their innovation or strategic ambitions. For example, if a business is targeting high innovation, growth, product vitality, or share targets but does not have the appropriate adaptability and mission traits, it will not have sufficient flexibility or market focus to achieve those objectives. The implications from a Denison Survey provide critical elements of an organization’s innovation and strategy implementation plan.
The survey measures specific aspects of an organization’s culture in each of four traits (adaptability, involvement, consistency and mission), and twelve management practices and takes approximately 20 – 30 minutes to complete. It is available in 20 languages. Individual surveys are collectively tabulated into a graphical profile that compares your organization’s culture to that of higher and lower-performing organizations in our normative database. Repeated use of the survey provides a measure of the organization’s progress toward achieving optimum performance.
